Dill Seed

Dill seed, derived from the herb Anethum graveolens, is a small, oval-shaped seed that is light brown in color with a distinctive ridged surface. It has a strong, pungent, and slightly bitter flavor, reminiscent of caraway but with a unique aromatic quality. The aroma of dill seed is warm and somewhat reminiscent of anise and lemon, adding a flavorful complexity to dishes.

Suggested use: It is a key ingredient in pickling recipes, adding a distinctive flavor to pickles, especially dill pickles. It complements the sourness of the vinegar and other spices, enhancing the overall taste of the preserved vegetables. 

Dill seed is also often used in baking, particularly in bread and rolls. It adds a subtle, aromatic flavor that pairs well with savory dishes. For example, dill seed can be incorporated into rye bread or used as a topping for homemade crackers.
